Trás-os-Montes

In October 2024, I visited the Trás-os-Montes (behind the mountains) region in northeastern Portugal. This is a wild and rugged landscape, apparently created by a giant abstract sculptor who delighted in balancing huge boulders on the top of mountains.  It is a land steeped in many layers of ancient history – with stone megaliths, Celtic traces, Roman bridges, and abandoned stone buildings. These are works inspired by that landscape.
